Green Apple Aphid

Apple aphid, or green apple aphid, feeds on apple and pear trees without migrating to an alternate host.   Their feeding can distort the growth of flowers and fruit and stunt growing shoots.  Honeydew can build up on fruit and serve as a host for sooty mold.  Aphid populations especially increase on vigorous shoots.  Natural enemies typically attack aphid colonies only after they become large and apparent.
